Marking Anniversary of Kim Jong-il Prisoners Receive Amnesty

TRIBUNNEWS.COM SEOUL - North Korea announced today Tuesday (01/10/2012) would provide amnesty for the prisoners to mark the birth anniversary of Kim Jong-il.

The news agency quoted a local official said the decision KBS parliament has formally grant amnesty to embody 'politically noble, generous and embrace all of President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il'.

It said the amnesty would apply to 'prisoners' but not elsewhere specified category who will receive amnesty. But there are at least 200,000 men, women and children detained in prisons and labor camps, most of whom were detained for political reasons and not criminal.
