NIGERIA - Nigeria's largest company, Dangote Cement has opened a new cement plant worth $ 1 billion. The new plant will increase production capacity by 40 per cent of this company.

The new cement plant is located in Ibese, Ogun State, very close to Lagos, Nigeria's largest economic center.

Chairman of Dangote Cement is the richest in Africa Aliko Dangote said the new plant will produce as many as six million metric tons of cement per annum (mtpa). "We're working to make the company become one of the eight largest cement producer in the world," said Aliko Dangote as quoted by Forbes, Monday (13/02/2012).

Dangote Cement already has two factories in Nigeria, namely Obajana factory in Kogi and one in Benue state. These two factories produce 14 million metric tons per year. With the addition of a new plant, Dangote Cement production capacity in Nigeria will increase to 20.25 metric tons per year. And make this company the largest cement producers Africa.

"With the factory berpoerasinya Ibese, Nigeria has changed from the previous importer of cement to be self-sufficient in the production and export," said Dangote.

Dangote Cement is a subsidiary of Dangote Group, Nigeria giant conglomerate with business tentacles in the sector of sugar and flour milling, cement, food, food and beverages, as well as energy. The group also operates in some 14 African countries. (WDI)
